SpacerA partial solar eclipse seen in NA on Christmas Day 2000

SpacerOn December 25, 2000, barely noticeable by those unaware of the event, the new moon swept between the earth and the sun, providing most of North America with a partial solar eclipse. In Richmond, Virginia, we noticed a slight "dusky effect" midday in what otherwise was a crystal clear blue sky.
SpacerNever should one look at the sun without appropriate safeguards. We took these pictures by using a set of binoculars to project onto a black card.
SpacerThe eclipse was most complete in northern Canada, and these images have been inverted to put north at the top.
